LEATHERFACE

The Hijacker Electrical Leatherface is a dual transistor fuzz hand-built and wired and then tested somewhere not far outside of Newt, Texas. A pair of matched Texas Instruments 2n1304 Germanium NPN transistors along with carefully hand selected components make up the core of this special take on a classic 60’s fuzz circuit. From the hand-peeled exterior adornments to the flowing gut-work and sonic fine-tuning, the highest attention to build quality and auditory detail has been taken with no expense spared in building this particular batch of Leatherface fuzz pedals. A multitude of internal controls within the innards of the pedal expand the functional flexibility and tonal palette that is possible with the Leatherface, taking your sound and playing down a dark and dusty unfamiliar road. The Leatherface features 2 external controls (excluding the true bypass on/off stomp switch) and several internal controls to carve out your own sonic killing floor as you see fit. They are as follows (please consult photos for manual and a more in depth
explanation of settings and functions):

VIOLENCE-External volume control. Responsible for general output volume of the Leatherface signal.
BUZZZZZ-External fuzz control. Responsible for the level of distortion or fuzz that is in the Leatherface signal.

PRE-GAIN-Internal trim potentiometer control. Attenuates the signal coming into the Leatherface. Acts in a similar fashion to your guitars volume control if the Leatherface is not first in the signal chain.

BODY-Internal trim potentiometer control. Allows for an increase in bass response in the Leatherface signal.

STAGE I BIAS-Internal trim potentiometer control. Controls voltage bias over the first transistor stage of the circuit.

STAGE II BIAS-Internal trim potentiometer control. Controls voltage bias to the second and more critical stage of the circuit.

CONTOUR-Internal trim potentiometer control. Regulates the mid-range frequency contour in the Leatherface fuzz signal.

CLASSIC vs MODERN-Internal DPDT on/off switch. Switches between a pair of output resistor values, from a level of gain and output volume heard in more classic 1960’s type fuzz circuits, to a more modern boosted output with an inherent increase in gain.

PICKUP SIMULATOR-Internal DPDT on/off switch. The Leatherface fuzz circuit is preceded entirely by a pickup simulating circuit. A user can engage this circuit when the Leatherface is not connected directly to the electric guitars pickup network which allows the Leatherface to retain the majority of its tonal character and structure. This would otherwise be compromised if the Leatherface was not directly connected to the guitars pickup network.
